Undokai

This was Madeleine's last undokai (sports day) of elementary school. The weather was perfect - cool and sunny.

The sixth graders did a special performance. Maddie and her classmates had practiced for it and it was beautiful!

Edo Wonderland

Maddie's birthday present was a trip to Edo Wonderland in Nikko. It's a re-creation of the Edo era of history. We were one with the ninjas.

The best part was the ninja training house.

Troy and Madeleine were great, but I couldn't even stand up in it!

Birthday Girl

Maddie celebrated her 12th birthday with some school friends. They met at our house and decorated cupcakes...

Went bowling...

And karaoke!

It was a great party! Happy Birthday, Madeleine!

Oyama, again!

We love exploring Mt. Oyama so much that we took our dear friends, Doug and Trish and Angelo and Leah.

We played in the icy waterfall. It was a great way to escape the summer heat!

Nike Maddie

These are some of the catalog pages that Maddie modeled for the Fall and Winter Nike collection. She did the shoot in the middle of the summer in the Tokyo humidity. It was amazing how hard the girls worked. The shot of them running down the stairs took forever! It is impossible to run down stairs while looking up, but they managed it. The photographer and crew said the two girls were the best they had ever worked with.

Rudy and Deffy

Madeleine is featured on the website and in-store ads for a new clothing store. There are 9 stores in Tokyo and around Japan.

We visited one of the stores and the clerks were excited to see Maddie and take her picture.
